Washington DC Tourism Attraction and Statistic – Last year, Washington has the highest statistic for its tourism attraction with the increase about 1 million visitors. It is the highest statistic for a decade with the record for about 18.9 million of visitors in 2012. This report has been announced officially on Tuesday.


Washington DC Tourism Attraction and Statistic is Increasing


Based on the statistic created by Tourism Bureau Destination D.C, it showed that the total visitors are increasing for about 5.5 percent compared to the previous 2011 report. A study also showed that the domestic visitation was 4.2 percent higher that could reach about 16.8 million U.S. tourists. Another study found that visitor could spend about $6.7 billion in 2013 to visit Washington. It showed about 8 percent higher than 2012. The spending is for retail goods, entertainment, beverages and food.

It is also stated by the President and CEO of Destination D.C. Official, Elliot Ferguson that the growth of international visitor was the main factor of increasing visitation. The officials estimated that it reached about 2.1 million of international visitors only in 2012. Visitors from China are also increased for about 92 percent while the double-digit increases from other countries. The increased visitation was also reported in 2013 with more than 17.4 million U.S. visitors. It means that the statistic is 3.1 percent higher from the 16.8 million of domestic visitor in 2012.

Last fall, 2013 most museums and memorials were shuttered by government shutdown but Ferguson mentioned that they have lot of variables to increase the visitation. Tourism officials worked for advertising many private museums and other attractions to deal with the government shutdown. Moreover, visitors also have other business to do in Washington starting from business meeting, conventions plan and others as the part of Washington DC Tourism Attraction and Statistic.

By announcing the 2013 data, Mayor Vincent Gray mentioned that there was a support from City’s Tourism sector in order to open for about 76,000 jobs. After the federal government, they placed hospitality industry as the second largest employer. In 2014, Ferguson explained that they have well-pacing compared to the first three months of 2014 especially when winter came out so city and federal government have no option left unless to shut down many times.

At this year, Washington is ready to bring 17 of citywide conventions with the high-profile events such as Microsoft WorldWide Partner Conference and the largest hotel to open, the new Marriott Marquist close to city’s convention center for future booking in Washington as the best way to increase Washington DC Tourism Attraction and Statistic.
